Peru: Merchandise exports accelerate in November
Merchandise exports soared 16.4% annually in November, on the heels of October’s 11.1% increase. November’s outturn marked the fastest growth since June 2022. Meanwhile, merchandise imports dived 10.8% in annual terms in November (October: +2.0% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 1.9 billion surplus in November (October 2023: USD 1.2 billion surplus; November 2022: USD 0.6 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 16.7 billion surplus in November, compared to the USD 15.4 billion surplus in October.
