Peru: Business sentiment inches up in September
Business confidence rose slightly to to 35.0 in September from 33.6 in August, which had marked the worst result since June 2020. As a result, the index remained well below the 50-threshold, which separates pessimism from optimism among businesses, for the fourth consecutive month.
The mild improvement in firms’ expectations was broad-based in September, and was most likely caused by a reduction of daily Covid-19 cases throughout the month, combined with an easing of related restrictions. As such, firms’ views regarding their sector, their company’s situation, future demand for their products, and investment in their firm all rose this month, although all still remained in pessimistic territory in the month.
