Panama: Inflation holds steady in January
Consumer prices increased 0.32% in January over the previous month, swinging from December’s 0.41% drop. January’s figure marked the highest reading since July 2021. In detail, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco rebounded, while prices for food and transportation grew at a faster pace.
Inflation came in at 2.6% in January, matching December’s result. January’s result was the highest inflation rate since November 2021. Annual average inflation rose to 2.0% in January (December: 1.6%).
