Panama: Economic activity growth eases to over one-year low in April
Economic activity increased 6.2% year on year in April (March: +12.6% yoy). April’s outturn marked the worst reading since March 2021. This was chiefly driven by lower mining output—chiefly copper extraction—which partially offset expansions in consumer spending, construction, and Panama Canal activity.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 19.3%, down from March’s 21.0%.
