Netherlands: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since records began in September
Harmonized inflation rose to 17.1% in September, following August’s 13.7%. September’s figure was the highest inflation rate since records began. The print reflected surging housing and utilities prices. This more than offset softer price increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and restaurant hotels.
The trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 9.7% in September (August: 8.5%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 14.5% in September, from the previous month’s 12.0%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer price rose 2.91% in September over the prior month (August: 2.35% mom).
