Netherlands: Harmonized inflation falls to lowest level since September 2021 in August
Harmonized inflation dropped to 3.4% in August from July’s 5.3% and below the 5.2% average of the euro area. August’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since September 2021, and was dragged down by a sharper fall in energy prices. Moreover, August saw a more modest increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 8.7% in August (July: 9.5%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 3.0% in August, from July’s 4.6%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.50% in August over the previous month, moderating from July’s 1.15% increase.
