Mexico: Consumer sentiment weakens again in November
Consumer confidence fell in November, with the seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence indicator published by the Statistical Institute (INEGI) coming in at 43.5 points, down from the 43.9 points in the previous month. Since August 2019, INEGI began reporting the indicator as a balance rather than as an index.
November’s downturn was mainly driven by households’ weaker assessment over the current state of the economy and the general economic situation in the year ahead. Consumers’ appraisal over their ability to purchase big-ticket items also deteriorated, albeit mildly. Meanwhile, their views regarding their current and future financial situation improved in November.
