Malaysia: Industrial output growth ebbs in April
Industrial output grew 4.6% in year-on-year terms in April, which followed March’s 5.1% increase. The reading was largely due to a deterioration in manufacturing output growth. In addition, mining and quarrying production weakened.
On a monthly basis, industrial production was flat in seasonally-adjusted terms in April, which was better than March’s 0.7% fall. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 4.8% in April (March: +7.4%), which marked a one-year low.
