Luxembourg: Harmonized inflation rises in September
Consumer prices increased 0.15% over the previous month in September, which was below August’s 0.97% rise. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell in September and prices for transportation increased at a softer pace. In addition, prices for recreation and culture dropped.
Harmonized inflation came in at 4.0% in September, which was up from August’s 3.5%. September’s print marked the highest reading since November 2011. Annual average harmonized inflation edged up to 1.6% in September (August: 1.5%). Lastly, consumer price inflation rose to a near nine-year high of 2.7% in September, from the previous month’s 2.5%.
