Korea: Business confidence improves in September but remains pessimistic
Business confidence in the manufacturing sector came in at 68.0 in September, up notably from August’s 61.0. September’s result marked the strongest reading since March. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 100-point threshold, and indicated pessimism among businesses.
The increase in business confidence came on the back of an improvement in sales prospects. Turning to the non-manufacturing sector, the indicator rose to 69 from 63. The bank does not survey information on the drivers of sentiment among non-manufacturing firms.
