Kazakhstan: Composite PMI records worst reading since February in October
The Tengri Partners Kazakhstan Composite PMI fell to 50.4 in October from September’s 52.6. October’s result marked the worst reading since February. As a result, the index moved closer to the 50.0 no-change mark, pointing to a continued, albeit moderating, improvement in private-sector operating conditions from the previous month.
Looking at a breakdown by sector, the Tengri Partners Kazakhstan Manufacturing PMI fell to 50.3 in October from September’s 52.8. The weaker result was driven by renewed declines in output and new orders. More positively, employment continued to rise, and companies remained optimistic for the coming year. On the price front, input and output costs continued to increase.
Meanwhile, the Tengri Partners Kazakhstan Services PMI fell to 51.1 in October from September’s 52.3; output and new orders continued to increase at a softer pace, and employment fell. More positively, companies remained optimistic for the coming year. Looking at prices, input and output costs continued to grow, albeit at more moderate paces.
