Belgium: Industrial activity dips in March
Industrial production decreased 2.2% year on- ear in calendar-adjusted terms in March (February: -0.9% c.a. yoy). The reading was partly due to a deterioration in manufacturing output. In contrast, energy production dropped at a softer rate.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 1.3% in March (February: +4.4% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at a two-year low of minus 3.0% in March, down from February’s minus 2.5%.
