Kazakhstan: Industrial sector loses considerable steam in April
The industrial sector decelerated notably in April, growing 1.9% over the same day last month. This marked a considerable loss of steam from March’s 4.2% year-on-year expansion.
Looking at a breakdown of industrial activities, the downturn was caused by a swing to contraction in mining output and a notable deceleration in the water supply, sewerage system and waste management sector. A deterioration in these sectors more than offset an upturn in the growth of manufacturing production and a rebound in the supply of electricity, gas and steam.
Annual average growth in industrial production inched down to 4.1% in April, from 4.2% in March.
