Italy: Inflation accelerates in September
Harmonized inflation soared to 9.4% in September, following August’s 9.1%. September’s reading represented the since our current records began. The acceleration was driven by faster rises in prices for food and recreational and cultural services.
The annual average variation of harmonized consumer prices came in at 6.5% in September (August: +6.0%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 8.9% in September, from August’s 8.4%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.62% in September over the previous month, above the 0.89% increase logged in August.
