Italy: Industrial output dips in August
Industrial output decreased 0.2% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in August (July: +1.0% mom). Looking at the details of the release, August’s downturn was largely driven by a fall in manufacturing output. Furthermore, production also contracted in both the mining and quarrying, and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sub-sectors.
On an annual basis, industrial output was flat in August, which was notably below July’s 7.2% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth of industrial production was 8.9% in August, matching July’s result.
