Italy: Industrial activity deteriorates in May
Industrial output decreased 1.1% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in May (April: +1.4% mom). The figure was partly driven by a deterioration in manufacturing output. In addition, mining and quarrying output decelerated.
On an annual basis, industrial production increased 3.4% in May, which was below April’s 3.9% expansion. Accordingly, annual average industrial production growth fell to 4.4% in May (April: +5.8%), which marked an over one-year low.
