Italy: Consumer confidence decreases in July
July 27, 2015
The National Institute of Statistics’ (Istat) consumer confidence index fell from 109.3 in June to 106.5 in July. The result undershot market expectations that the index would record a softer drop to 109.0.
July’s result reflected a decrease in all the subcomponents that comprise the index. Consumers’ assessment regarding the country’s future economic situation, in particular, fell to the lowest level since January 2015. Households were also more pessimistic regarding their personal present and future economic situation, with the latter reaching a three-month low.
