Ireland: Manufacturing output rebounds in January
According to preliminary data, the manufacturing production index increased 5.7% in January in seasonally-adjusted, month-on-month terms, following the revised 6.5% contraction in December (previously reported: -6.7% month-on-month). January’s upturn was largely driven by increase in the production of food products, basic metals and transport equipment. This latest figure will likely be significantly revised next month due to the availability of more comprehensive manufacturing data.
In annual terms, overall industrial production rose 1.2% in January, following the revised 3.9% increase in December (previously reported: +0.7% year-on-year). Annual average variation in industrial output was up 4.2% in January, accelerating from the 3.2% increase in the prior month.
