Ireland: Manufacturing output falls in February
According to preliminary data, the manufacturing production index declined 1.1% in February in seasonally-adjusted, month-on-month terms, contrasting a revised 5.9% expansion in January (previously reported: +5.7% month-on-month). February’s downturn largely reflected a decrease in the production of food products, transport equipment and non-metallic mineral products. This latest figure will likely be significantly revised next month due to the availability of more comprehensive manufacturing data.
In annual terms, overall industrial production fell 1.1% in February, contrasting the 1.2% increased logged in January. Annual average variation in industrial output was up 4.0% in February, decelerating slightly from the 4.2% rise in the month prior.
