Ireland: Consumer sentiment stays strong in March
Consumer confidence came in at 69.5 in March, down from February’s 70.2. Despite the downtick, March’s result was the third-strongest in 25 months, just below the readings seen in January and February.
The downtick came as consumers became less positive about the current and past state of the economy and of their personal finances.
Despite the downtick, the reading remained strong, with consumer sentiment over Q1 as a whole the highest in two years. This suggests that consumer sentiment—and as a result, household consumption—remained on an upward course in the quarter as inflation continues to weaken.
