Indonesia: Retail sales growth ebbs in September
Retail sales expanded 1.0% year on year in September (August: +1.1% yoy). The reading was partly driven by a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales. In contrast, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales rebounded. Lastly, cultural and recreation goods sales contracted at a softer rate, while information and communication equipment sales dipped at a steeper pace than in August.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of retail sales coming in at 1.5% in September, down from August’s 1.8%.
