Indonesia: Retail sales growth picks up pace in September
Retail sales rose 5.5% year on year in September (August: +4.9% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, food, beverages, and tobacco sales gained steam in September, while motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales swung to contraction. Lastly, cultural and recreation goods sales lost steam, while information and communication equipment sales fell at a softer pace than in August.
Meanwhile, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average growth of retail sales coming in at 8.2% in September, up from August’s 7.6% reading.
