Hungary: Economic sentiment drops as consumers grow more pessimistic in August
The GKI economic sentiment index, a composite indicator, slid to minus 19.0 in August from minus 18.2 in July. August’s result marked the first decline in sentiment since April, driven by consumers’ increased pessimism.
Business confidence inched down to minus 15.3 in August from minus 15.2 in July. The print reflected a deterioration in the sentiment in the construction and services sectors.
Consumer confidence fell to minus 29.6 in August from minus 26.9 in the previous month as households’ assessment of their financial position deteriorated.
