Hong Kong: Inflation increases in October
Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.20% in October over the previous month, after falling 0.70% in September. Looking at the details of the release, prices for housing, utilities and food increased in October relative to the previous month. Moreover, transportation prices also increased modestly as did clothing and footwear prices in October relative to September.
Inflation came in at 1.7% in October, up from September’s 1.4%. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.1% in October (September: 0.9%).
