Germany: Merchandise exports rise at a milder pace in March
Merchandise exports dropped 3.3% over in the previous month March (February: +6.2% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 3.4% over the prior month in March (February: +4.7% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a EUR 3.2 billion surplus in March (February 2022: EUR 11.1 billion surplus; March 2021: EUR 14.0 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a EUR 140 billion surplus in March, compared to the EUR 150.9 billion surplus in February.
