Germany: Merchandise exports rebound in April
Merchandise exports rose 4.4% over in the previous month April (March: -3.0% month on month). Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 3.1% over the prior month in April (February: +3.2% mom).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance widened from the previous month, recording a EUR 3.5 billion surplus in April (March 2022: EUR 1.9 billion surplus; April 2021: EUR 16.1 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a EUR 124.7 billion surplus in April, compared to the EUR 136.4 billion surplus in March.
