Germany: Merchandise exports accelerate in June
Merchandise exports jumped 4.5% month on month in June, following May’s 1.3% rise. Meanwhile, merchandise imports increased 0.2% on a monthly basis in June (May: +3.2% mom).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, rising to a EUR 6.4 billion surplus in June (May 2022: EUR 0.8 billion surplus; June 2021: EUR 13.5 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a EUR 106.4 billion surplus in June, compared to the EUR 110.7 billion surplus in May.
