France: Industrial output records quickest growth since January in August
Industrial output rose 1.0% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in August, which was above July’s 0.5% increase. August’s figure marked the strongest increase since January. The upturn was primarily driven by a pickup in manufacturing and mining and quarrying production.
On an annual basis, industrial production increased 3.9% in August, which was below July’s 4.0% expansion and marked the worst result since February. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 4.1% in August (July: +3.1%). This signals an improving trend in the industrial sector.
