France: Industrial output bounces back in October
Industrial output expanded 0.9% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in October, which contrasted September’s 1.5% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, October’s bounce back was largely attributed to rebounding manufacturing and energy output. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying production contracted at a softer rate.
On an annual basis, factory output decreased 0.6% in October, contrasting September’s 0.5% expansion and marked the worst result since February. Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at plus 5.2% in October, up from September’s 4.8% reading.
