France: Economic sentiment increases in August
Economic sentiment rose to 99.4 in August from July’s 95.1. August’s result marked the best reading since March. However, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a still-muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved sentiment in the industrial, construction, services and retail sectors. Moreover, consumer confidence was up in August.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier in August, while the economic uncertainty index fell.
