France: Consumer confidence stable in April
Consumer confidence came in at 94 in April, mirroring March’s reading. As a result, the index remained below the 100-threshold, which represents its long-term average.
In April, consumers’ assessment of their expected saving capacity and their willingness to purchase large ticket items in the year ahead improved compared to the previous month. Moreover, their perception of their personal financial situation in the past twelve months also turned less negative, while their fears over unemployment eased somewhat. However, households’ appraisal over their expected personal financial situation deteriorated from the prior month.
