France: Business sentiment improves in June but remains largely pessimistic
In June, the French Statistical Institute’s (INSEE) business climate indicator for the manufacturing sector rose to 77 from 71 in May. As a result, the index remained below the 100-threshold, its long-term average.
Manufacturers’ personal production expectations turned positive in June, while their perception of the general production in the sector turned significantly less negative. Moreover, employment intentions gained ground but remained pessimistic. On the flipside, overall new orders remained deeply entrenched in negative territory, while pessimism over new export orders worsened from the previous month.
