France: Business confidence remains downbeat in November
In November, the French Statistical Institute’s (INSEE) business climate indicator for the manufacturing sector ticked up to 100 from 99 in October, which had marked the lowest print since March 2015. As a result, the indicator edged up to the 100-threshold, its long-term average.
November’s uptick chiefly reflected an improvement in manufacturers’ perception of finished goods inventories as well as reduced pesimism towards both export and overall order books.Similarly, manufacturers’ views over employment propsects improved in the surveyed month. That said, deteriorating expectations on personal production and general production weighed on the overall result.
