France: Business confidence hits over three-year high in July

Business confidence rose to 110 in July from June's 108, marking the best result since June 2018. As such, the index moved further above the 100-threshold, indicating optimism among businesses.

With regard to demand, firms’ personal production expectations turned more optimistic in July, while their general production expectations weakened somewhat compared to the month prior. Meanwhile, their perception of export order books as well as overall order books turned less pessimistic. Lastly, employment intentions improved in the first month of Q3.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment expanding 9.8% in 2021, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.2% in 2022.
