France: Business confidence hits near one year-high in January
Business confidence jumped to 98 in January from December’s 93, marking the best performance since February 2020. As such, the index moved closer to the 100-threshold, but still remained below the 100-threshold, which represents its long-term average.
With regard to demand, firms’ personal production expectations improved from the previous month; however, the general production expectations deteriorated from December. Moreover, their perception of new export books as well as overall order books turned less pessimistic in January. Lastly, employment intentions improved slightly in January, but remained downbeat overall.
