Finland: Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level since May 2022 in January
Harmonized inflation came in at 7.9% in January, which was down from December’s 8.8%. January’s reading represented the weakest inflation rate since May 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and transportation grew at a more moderate rate in January.
The trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 7.5% in January (December: 7.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 8.4% in January, from December’s 9.1%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.55% in January over the previous month, swinging from the 0.37% fall logged in December.
