Finland: Current account posts smaller surplus in August
The current account recorded a EUR 0.4 billion surplus in August, down from EUR 0.6 billion in July but broadly unchanged from August 2020. In the 12 months leading up to August, the current account clocked a EUR 4.5 billion surplus.
The merchandise trade balance posted a EUR 5.5 billion surplus in August, up notably year-on-year but below July’s EUR 5.7 billion. Both exports and imports grew at a brisk pace in August.
Meanwhile, the financial account registered a EUR 0.2 billion net capital outflow in August, as an outflow of reserves more than offset higher other investments.
