Denmark: Manufacturing activity deteriorates in December
Manufacturing output declined 1.2% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in December, which contrasted November’s 2.7% increase. Looking at the details of the release, the downturn was due to the decline of output in investment goods and in the manufacture of non-durable goods industry, which more than offset strong output growth in the manufacture of durable goods.
On an annual basis, manufacturing output rose 7.8% in seasonally-adjusted terms in December, which was notably below November’s 10.0% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average manufacturing production growth rose to 8.9% in December (November: +8.1%). This signals an improving trend in the manufacturing sector.
