Denmark: Business confidence improves notably in December
Business confidence among firms in the manufacturing sector came in at minus 2 in December, notably up from November’s minus 9 (previously reported: minus 10). As a result, the index climbed up close to the 0-point threshold which separates optimism from pessimism among businesses. December’s reading marked the best print in over a year and a half.
Meanwhile, confidence in other sectors continued to improve: Sentiment among firms in the construction sector increased to minus 5 in December from minus 7 in November, and in the services sector, it improved to minus 8 from minus 13, although they both remained in pessimistic territory. Moreover, sentiment in the retail sector grew to 10 in December from 7 in November, moving further into optimistic territory.
