Czech Republic: Economic sentiment improves in January
The economic sentiment indicator, published by the Czech Statistical Office (CSO), rose to 97.6 in January from 95.6 in December.
Consumer confidence strengthened in January, with the index increasing to 91.4 from 91.2 in December. The rise mainly reflected a limited “decline in the number of households assessing their current financial situation negatively compared to the last twelve months”.
Meanwhile, the business confidence index increased to 98.8 from Decembers 95.6. The result came on the back of rosier sentiment in the industry, construction and selected services sectors more than offsetting weaker confidence in the trade sector.
