Costa Rica: Economic activity growth accelerates in February
Economic activity expanded 4.4% in year-on-year terms in February, which was above January’s 3.9% increase. Looking at the details of the release, the manufacturing sector gathered steam. Moreover, the information and communication sector expanded at a faster pace. On the flip side, the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector softened in February.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 5.2% in February (January: +5.3%), pointing to a slightly worsening trend. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, economic activity rose at a quicker rate of 0.7% in February (January: +0.1% mom).
