Costa Rica: Economic activity dives again in June
Economic activity decreased 7.4% in year-on-year terms in June, following May’s 7.2% drop, according to the Central Bank of Costa Rica’s monthly activity index.
June’s reading reflected the negative economic impact of the containment measures imposed earlier this year to stop the spread of the coronavirus. In terms of sectors, the drop was broad-based: The transport, retail, and hotels and restaurants sectors were the most hurt, while the other services and construction sectors dropped at much softer paces.
