Colombia: Industrial sector bounces back in July
Industrial production rose 3.5% year-on-year in July, marking the strongest increase since November 2018 and rebounding from the 1.1% drop in June, according to data released by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) on 13 September.
A breakdown by industrial activity revealed that the upturn was largely driven by increased manufacture of beverages, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemical products, and paper and paper products. These more than offset contractions in other manufacturing and in the manufacture of basic chemical substances and their products.
Annual average growth in industrial production ticked down to 3.0% in July from 3.1% in June.
