Colombia: Consumer confidence drops in July

The Fedesarrollo consumer sentiment index dropped in July, falling from 27.4 points in June to 25.1 points. Consumer confidence is 1.9 points above the level seen in June and remains well above the 0-point threshold that separates pessimistic from optimistic territory.
The monthly deterioration mainly reflects a consistent drop in the consumer expectations sub-index, which fell from 28.8 points in June to 25.0 points in July. In addition, consumers' views on economic conditions also recorded a slight deterioration, falling from 25.2 points in June to 25.1 points in July.
LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect total consumption to expand 4.1% this year, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month's forecast. For next year, the panel expects total consumption to rise 4.5%.
