Canada: House price growth picks up in November
According to the Teranet-National Bank Composite House Price Index, house prices increased 0.4% month-on-month on a non-seasonally-adjusted basis in November, after virtually flatlining in October. In annual terms, house prices were up 15.2% in November, decelerating from the previous month’s 15.7% rise.
In November, prices in 8 of the 11 markets surveyed increased over the month prior. Prices in Hamilton, Halifax and Victoria increased robustly, while prices in Toronto—which accounts for over one-third of the 11-city composite index—grew 0.8% month-on-month.
