Bulgaria: Inflation comes in at highest level nearly 14 years in February
Consumer prices increased 1.36% from the previous month in February, below the 1.54% increase recorded in January. Looking at the details of the release, prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels dropped after growing in the previous month. However, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a quicker pace in February.
Inflation rose to 10.0% in February, following January’s 9.2%. February’s reading marked the highest inflation rate since October 2008. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.0% in February (January: 4.1%). Finally, harmonized inflation rose to 8.4% in February, from January’s 7.7%.
