Brazil: Inflation rises in June
Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.26% in June over the previous month, swinging from May’s 0.38% drop. June’s reading marked the sharpest increase in prices since December 2019. The rebound was chiefly broad-based with greater price pressures for transportation; food and beverages; housing; and health and personal care goods.
Inflation edged up to 2.1% in June, above May’s 1.9%. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.1% in June (May: 3.2%).
