Brazil: Industrial output growth accelerates marginally in May
Industrial output increased 0.3% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in May (April: +0.2% mom). The pickup came on the back of a rebound in capital goods output and durable goods production. These, more than offset a decline in intermediate goods production.
On an annual basis, industrial production rose 0.5% in May, swinging from April’s 0.5% decline and marking the best result since July 2021. Still, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.9%, worsening from April’s minus 0.3%.
