Belgium: Industrial output contracts at sharper pace in April
Industrial output declined 3.9% year on year in calendar-adjusted terms in April, which was a deterioration from March’s 2.6% decrease. April’s sharper drop was largely due to a deterioration in manufacturing production. In contrast, energy output fell at a softer pace.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell at a quicker rate of 2.2% in April (March: -0.6% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.3%, down from March’s minus 3.2%.
