Belgium: Economic sentiment reverses course in April
The consumer confidence indicator produced by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) dipped 1.0 point in April to minus 7.0 points. April’s downtick was due to consumers’ worsening anxieties over the broader economy and, more personally, unemployment.
Meanwhile, the NBB’s business confidence indicator fell to minus 3.2 points from minus 0.7 points in March. Deteriorating sentiment in the manufacturing- and building-related industries drove the downturn.
